Dakkat Akarem is a local cafeteria established in Jeddah city which aims to reserve the Hijazi identity and reintroduce it to the modern society while maintaining the authenticity and values of the Arabian culture as a whole. As the brand name is an essential element to reflect the essence of the brand, we came up with a name that denotes the generosity of Arabian hospitality.

We designed the logo to create a modern adaptation that combines the Reqaa traditional font, which is usually seen on vintage shop signs around the Hijazi region, with parts of patterns seen on traditional fabrics.

The composition of the name breaks the usual treatment of vintage fonts in a visually interesting way. The type is supported by tashkeel and enhanced with the use of geometric shapes extracted from motifs to achieve a visual balance.

The color palette we used is inspired from the original colors of the vintage fabric yet in softer shades to make the brand identity appealing for young generations who appreciate their culture and integrate it into their lifestyle in creative ways.
